Policy

I pride myself in the quality of instruction and care clients receive, and do my best to tailor each lesson for the goals and needs of each horse and rider.  In order to keep the program running smoothly, please be aware of rules and regulations that help me and the stables be successful. 

 

Lesson Duration and Preparation:

Lessons are 60 minutes in length. Students are expected to arrive early to prepare their mount, and stay after their lesson ends to thoroughly groom and put their horse away unless otherwise stated. For students who do not yet know how to prepare their mount, we will assist in getting the student’s horse ready prior to the lesson.

 

Mounted & Unmounted Instruction:

Lessons are designed to create safe, knowledgeable, and well-rounded equestrians. As part of the curriculum, lessons may include both mounted and unmounted instruction depending on rider needs, weather, footing conditions, horse welfare, safety concerns, and training goals.

Unmounted instruction may include grooming, tacking, horse handling, groundwork, horse behavior, safety education, stable management, lunging concepts, rider biomechanics, and other horsemanship skills essential to rider progression. If mounted riding is not appropriate due to weather or safety conditions, the scheduled lesson will continue in an unmounted format unless otherwise stated by the trainer. Lessons are considered instructional sessions whether mounted or unmounted and do not qualify for refunds, credits, or make-up lessons unless cancelled by the instructor.

 

Attire:

Riders should wear long pants and closed-toed shoes. For participants under 18, the use of a helmet is mandatory. Adults are encouraged but not required to wear helmets. 

 

Late Arrival:

Lesson time spent arriving late, changing boots, putting on and adjusting helmets, doing hair, etc. means less riding time. If the student is more than 10 minutes late without notice, the lesson will be cancelled and considered an unexcused cancellation. If the rider is late by 15 minutes, the lesson will be cancelled. No make-up will be given. 

 

Cancellations:

Late Cancellation: Cancellations made less than 24 hours before the scheduled appointment will be subject to a cancellation fee equivalent to the full session cost. 

No-Show: Failure to attend a scheduled lesson or session without prior notice will result in a charge equivalent to the full session cost. No make-up will be given.

 

Payment:

All riding lessons must be paid at time of scheduling. No refunds are available. Payment may be made via Zelle, Venmo, Apple Pay, Cashapp, or PayPal. Lesson packages must be scheduled and used within 30 days of purchase. Any un-used lessons will be forfeited. Pricing is subject to change. 

 

Expectations: Parents

Provide a positive role model through their own actions to make sure their child has the best equestrian experience possible. Let your instructor be 100% responsible for the coaching of your child. Parents and all guests are asked to refrain from talking to riders during lessons. Parents and siblings/guests who are disruptive to the lesson will be asked to take their conversations outside of the learning area. 

 

Cleanliness:

Riders must pick up all manure in the arena, barn aisles, pathways, wash rack, tacking station, and barn area. Riders are expected to clean up and sweep up the tacking area and wash rack, including mud, after use. Any debris from hooves or horse hair in either the tacking station or wash rack must be swept up and disposed of appropriately. All tack and equipment should be put away where it belongs so that it will not be lost or misplaced.

 

Guests:

Any adults or children that accompany you or your child to the stable from this day forward are your sole responsibility. Coyote Creek Stables and its trainers are not liable for any injuries or damages to guests.
